Dr Ikeda graduated from the School of Medicine, Chiba University, Chiba, Japan in 1997. After his rheumatology training, he engaged himself in basic research at the Graduate School of Medicine, Chiba University and finished his PhD program in 2004. Dr Ikeda learned musculoskeletal ultrasound and clinical research at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore from 2005 to 2006 and at the University of Leeds, Leeds, United Kingdom from 2006 to 2007. He then became an assistant professor and senior lecturer at the Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Chiba University Hospital, Chiba, Japan from 2007 – 2023. He now works as a Professor at the Department of Rheumatology/Rheumatic Disease Center, Dokkyo Medical University, Mibo, Japan.
Dr Ikeda is a practicing rheumatologist and a researcher. His current research interests include imaging, biomarkers and the pathophysiology of rheumatic autoimmune diseases.
